Foothills Art Center
One (steep!) block south of the shopping district is the Foothills Art Center. Foothills is a highly-respected gallery with juried exhibits that rotate throughout the year. They also offer classes and lectures. From Thanksgiving till Christmas each year they host a Holiday Art Market which offers great, unique arts and crafts. See their web site to learn more.

Sculpture Tour
Bronze sculptures, many with western themes, are prevalent throughout Golden, particulary along Washington Avenue and along Clear Creek. Plaques with titles and the artist’s name accompany each piece. A printable map can help you locate all the pieces in the public art collection.

Spirits in the Wind
Spirits in the Wind Gallery, a showcase for Premier Art of the New West, changes exhibits and themes on a monthly basis. They feature Premier Art of the New West by national and emerging artists. You will find exceptional jewelry and unique gifts for the discriminating buyer, including pottery, sculpture, home decor and outdoor art.

Tour the Historic Districts
We currently have three Historic Districts in town. The 12th Street district is the oldest. It was was placed on the National Register on September 22, 1983, and locally designated in 1984. The 8th and 9th Street district was designated in 2002, with the East Street district following in 2004.

Arts tour on Mines campus
The CSM campus is a pleasant place for a stroll, with hundred-year-old trees and equally old buildings abounding. The school recently published a walking guide to campus artwork.

Murals Tour (Foss, P.O., GURA, Baby Doe’s, AMC)
Each of these locations has a unique mural: Foss Building: Foss Mural, Post Office building: WPA Mural, GURA office building: Indian Mural, Baby Doe’s: Wrigley’s PK Chewing Sweet Mural, American Mountaineering Center: Gerald Cassidy Mural.

Golden Fine Arts Festival
The Golden Fine Arts Festival, an August event, has grown in both size and prestige every year. The event is based on 11th Street, next to the Clear Creek History Park. Admission is free, and includes live music and a kids art center. Food vendors are available, and free horse-drawn carriage rides. Many area organizations offer special events to tie in with the festival, such as the arts and crafts exhibit at the Clear Creek History Park. See their web site to learn more!
