MapViewer FAQs
MapViewer 7.2.1931 (March 14, 2007)
- Fixed crash that occurred when using the Pan Realtime command.
MapViewer 7.2.1918 (March 1, 2007)
- The Territory Manager display no longer scrolls back to the top after assigning an object to a territory.
- Added the ability to sort objects by polygon direction by clicking on the column header in the Object Manager.
- It is now possible to delete a specific territory, rather than just the last one.
- Previously, MapViewer did not allow objects with no data to be assigned to a territory. This is now permitted. If the Save Territory Assignments command is used, any objects missing from the data file will be added at the bottom.
- It is now possible to export a map when the only thing visible is an inset.
- If the Add to Territory command is activated in repeated-use mode, the command will no longer be cancelled by changing the active territory.
- Added an option to the Gridding page of the Contour Map, Gradient Map, and Vector Map dialogs to keep the gridding options even if the data settings change. In automation, added a corresponding KeepGridOptions property to the ContourMap, GradientMap, and VectorMap objects.
- It is now possible to move or copy a legend from one thematic map layer to another thematic map layer that does not already contain a legend.
- MapViewer now prompts to save worksheet changes, if necessary, when using the File | Reload Data command.
- The tool tip shown when using the Add to Territory command no longer disappears when moving the cursor over a displayed PID or SID.
- When MapViewer was displayed on the second monitor in a dual-monitor setup, drop-down lists of color choices, line styles, etc., would appear on the first monitor. This has been corrected.
- Fixed a crash that could occur when deleting the title in an existing legend.
- When using the Find toolbar in the worksheet window, the search string was truncated by one character. This problem has been fixed.
- Fixed a problem where there was no prompt to save changes when the only change was to add a map collar.
- In the Redefine Attributes command, some changes that were made by clicking the Apply button were lost when then clicking OK. This has been corrected.
- Fixed a problem where the wrong document was active after importing a GSM file.
- Fixed a crash that could occur when selecting/deselecting an object with no IDs.
- Corrected a problem that occurred when first importing a very small area followed by importing a much larger area that exceeded the logical drawing space.
- Fixed an internal error that occurred in some cases with the Combine Territory Areas command.
- Fixed a crash that could occur when deleting objects in the Object Manager when the Shift key was pressed.
- Corrected a problem where the Data Manager dialog of the Records in Regions command would sometimes show the wrong object type icon.
- Corrected several rarely encountered import/export issues.
MapViewer 7.1.1767 (October 20, 2006)
- The Arrange | Sort Objects command now allows sorting by Polygon Direction.
- In automation, the MVSortBy enumeration now has a new member mvSortByPolygonDir = 12.
- The Find toolbar is now enabled when a worksheet window is active.
- Previously, the Data | Transform command in the worksheet only operated on columns (e.g., C = A + B). It has been enhanced to now operate on rows and on individual cells. For row operations, prefix the row number with an underscore character (e.g., _3 = _1 + _2 will add row 1 and row 2 and store the result in row 3). Use conventional spreadsheet notation for cell operations (e.g., C3 = A1 + B2).
- The Data | Transform command has been enhanced to support string comparison and assignment.
- In automation, the WksDocument object has a new TransformEx2 method for accessing the new transform capabilities. The Transform method continues unchanged for compatibility with existing scripts.
- In automation, the WksCellFormat object has a new SetDateTimeFmtType method for controlling date and time formatting.
- When dragging a scroll bar in the worksheet window the contents now scroll in real time.
- Zoom and pan commands have been added to the Inset Manager's context menu.
- A context menu has been added that is displayed when right-clicking on an active inset box.
- MapViewer now displays the Projection page in the Import Options dialog when importing a bitmap whose georeference file doesn't contain projection information.
- Previously, when loading a level (.LVL) file for a contour map, only the level values were set. Now, all the information in the LVL file is used.
- When exporting to a shapefile (SHP), a change was made to ensure that the field names in the associated DBF file do not contain spaces or control characters, as they can cause a problem in some other software programs.
- Data values of the forms "n-n", "na", and "np" (e.g., "1-30", "2a", "3p") are no longer interpreted as dates or times.
- Fixed a crash that could occur when using the Redefine Attributes command to copy a newly-added worksheet column to an attributes field.
- When exporting to a bitmap format from automation, the size parameters in the Options string were being ignored. This has been corrected.
- Fixed a problem where a data value of zero kept the non-contiguous cartogram from being displayed.
- Corrected a spelling error in the Pin Map dialog.
- When a data file is open simultaneously in MapViewer and in Microsoft Excel, changes made to the data in MapViewer can't be saved because of the file being locked by Excel. It was possible in this scenario to close the map in spite of the data change not being saved. This could result in an error the next time the map was opened. This problem has been corrected.
- A change was made to the Jenks' Natural Breaks classification method so that there won't be gaps between the classes.
- Hidden objects and hidden layers are no longer considered in sizing a bounding box.
- Fixed a crash that could occur when a worksheet filename was longer than 255 characters.
- Fixed a crash that could occur when a contour map fill had only a single polygon.
- When opening an XLS file from the recent file list, if one sheet of that XLS file was already open, it was not possible to choose a different sheet. This has been corrected.
- Fixed a problem where the presence of text objects in a MIF file could cause the IDs of non-text objects to load improperly.
- Fixed multiple problems related to the import and export of invalidly-formatted BLN files.
- When importing a shapefile that included a PRJ file and the projection was Lambert Azimuthal Equal Area, the Standard Parallel setting was not correctly set to the PRJ file's Latitude_of_Origin parameter. This has been corrected.
- Fixed a bug to close quoted text with the end-of-line character in DAT and TXT files.
Version 7.0.1675 (July 24, 2006)
- MapViewer 7 was released.
