The Bradford Washburn American
Mountaineering Museum is the first
and only museum in the United States
dedicated to the heroism, technology,
culture and spirit of mountaineering.
The museum brings visitors into the
world of mountain and rock climbing and
honors the achievements of mountaineers
from America and around the world.
Exhibits on climate, science, cultures
and the humanities as they relate to
mountains promise to make the visitor
experience rich, exciting, and
interactive.

The Buffalo Bill Museum and Grave
illustrates the life, times, and legend
of William F. Cody. It includes exhibits
about Buffalo Bill's life and the Wild
West shows, Indian artifacts and
firearms. See Sitting Bull's bow and
arrows, Buffalo Bill's show outfits,
Frederick Remington's "Portrait of a
Ranch Hand," and many other objects from
the Old West in the Buffalo Bill Museum
and Grave.

The Colorado Environmental Film
Festival (CEFF) is a celebration of
the power of film to inspire, educate,
and motivate audiences. CEFF presents
thought-provoking films and dialogue
that raise awareness of a wide variety
of interconnected ecological, social,
and economic themes. The Festival
provides an experience for the audience
that goes beyond passive film viewing:
CEFF inspires audiences into awareness
and action.

Lose track of time in one of the
metro areas top attractions, the
Colorado Railroad Museum, the
largest narrow gauge museum in the Rocky
Mountain West featuring over 100
historic engines, cabooses and coaches.
The Museum, a replica of an 1880's
depot, features Colorado rail history
exhibits and General Store. The Museum
includes the Denver HO Club model
railroad layout and the Denver Garden
Railway exhibit outside.

The Colorado School of Mines
Geology Museum
offers educational and exotic mineral,
fossil, gemstone, meteorite, and
historic mining displays on two floors.
Highlights include an introductory video
on area geology, as well as interactive
displays on radioactivity and
ultraviolet minerals. A Special Exhibit
Room hosts prominent precious metal and
changing exhibits. Irwin Hoffman’s
mining murals grace the main gallery. An
outdoor geologic trail features outcrops
containing fossilized dinosaur tracks,
logs, and leaves. Guided tours are
available by appointment.

Dinosaur Ridge is a
free, world-famous, interpretive outdoor
trail in Morrison includes 300+ dinosaur
tracks and a historic dinosaur bone
quarry. A NEW indoor exhibit, "Trek
Through Time," depicts conditions in the
Age of Dinosaurs represented by fossil
evidence at Dinosaur Ridge.
Triceratops Trail in Golden is a
1.5-mile, gravel hiking trail located
one block east of 6th Avenue and 19th
Street in Golden, Colorado. The trail
winds between large, vertical walls of
sandstone and into reclaimed clay pits.

Set
amidst a spectacular sculpture garden
and cloud-reaching pine trees, Foothills
Art Center boasts 40 years of
extraordinary exhibitions on Golden’s
main street. Located on the corner of
15th and Washington, Foothills Art
Center is housed in a renovated church
built in 1872 and is listed on the
National Historic Register. Explore
galleries featuring exhibitions such as
the Rocky Mountain National Watermedia
watercolor show.

The Golden Concert Choir is an adult
community choir with 60-80 members. We
offer people who love music an
opportunity to sing and improve their
vocal skills in an encouraging and
friendly environment. There is open
enrollment for all vocal parts at the
start of each term in September and
January, during which newcomers are
welcome to join the choir. While there
are no formal auditions for the Golden
Concert Choir, members do need to be
able to match pitch to the piano.

Golden History Museums is the
starting place for Golden’s unique
history, people, and places. Begin your
visit at the Golden History Center to
discover the history of Golden from its
founding. After that, walk across the
creek and amble through the Clear Creek
History Park. Peek in the windows of our
historic cabins and one room
schoolhouse, and don’t forget to greet
the chickens. Last stop the Astor House,
a historic boarding house that provided
hot meals and comfortable accommodations
to everyone from miners, to legislators,
to School of Mines students.

Golden Landmarks Association
is a
volunteer organization that is actively
involved with preserving the structures,
natural features and artifacts of
historical significance in and around
Golden. View our collection of old
photographs at our office and on our web
site, and copies can be purchased.
Volunteers are needed for our latest
projects; one is the restoration of the
old Brickyard House on Golden Gate
Canyon Road. An example of bricks made
in Golden at the turn of the century is
the Spaghetti Factory in Denver. We also
research Golden’s history and share
these stories with the public.

The Golden Library offers many
free programs every week, designed for
toddlers, children, teens, or adults.
They host a monthly book discussion and
host story times for little ones. Of
course, the Library is also a good place
to use the internet for free, read their
magazines, and borrow free books and
videos.

Golden
Oldy Cyclery is a private home
Museum of Sustainability. The 30
year old structure is updated to become
CARBON NEGATIVE which is, of itself, one
of the exhibits. It is the 1st "Carbon
Negative Museum" in the World. It
focuses the Sustainability theme in 3
ways: 1) Transportation Sustainability,
2) Home Sustainability & 3) Food
Sustainability. Hence the subtitle: "
The Sustainable Museum of Sustainable
Transportation."

GURA undertakes projects that
improve the community’s physical
presence within the GURA District,
maintain the area’s unique character,
and contribute to the economic stability
and vitality of Downtown Golden. They
are very supportive of the many cultural
organizations that are based in Historic
Downtown Golden.

The
Golden Chamber of Commerce was founded
in 1920 with tourism as one of the
primary reasons. They organize many
special events each year, including
First Fridays, Golden Family Easter, the
Farmer's Market, the Fine Arts Festival,
Halloween Crazy Days, the Candlelight
Walk, and Olde Golden Christmas.
The office of the Golden Chamber of
Commerce is located within the Visitors
Center and offers assistance to
businesses, tourists, conferences, and
anyone who stops in.

The
75-member Jefferson Symphony
Orchestra under the direction of
Music Director and Principal Conductor,
Dr. William Morse, keeps the excitement
of orchestral music alive through the
dedication, experience and passion of
our musicians. In addition to five
regular season concerts at the Colorado
School of Mines Green Center, we present
a recital series featuring our musicians
in small ensembles and an International
Young Artists Competition and Recital at
the Arvada Center each January.

The Rocky
Mountain Quilt Museum lets you explore
the scope of quilting from bedcoverings
of the 1800’s to contemporary art
pieces. The museum hosts quarterly
exhibits, tailored tours, and programs
for adults and youth. The Sandra Dallas
Library contains over 3000 volumes
featuring out-of-print literature,
technique resources, historic patterns,
and research documents.

West Side Live! Presents is an
independent performing arts series based
in Golden, Colorado. Each season, West
Side Live! Presents offers a diverse
variety of musical and dramatic genres
including folk, jazz, blues, world, pop
and classical music from local and
national artists.
