"Original Ground Level for a Section of Land in the Arabian Desert"

"This image represents the Original Ground Level for a section of land in the Arabian Desert in UAE/Abu Dhabi. The purpose of this project is to reclaim the land to make it suitable for human settlement for construction of houses, schools, roads, etc. 

When we received the order to start the work, I made the project study by using surfer 8 using these steps:

1. surveyed the area using GPS and Total Station surveying equipments.
2. downloaded and processed the data in Surfer 8.
3. the area dimensions are 8000 meters x 8000 meters and contains many sand mountains. 
4. the difference between the highest and lowest level is approximately 40 meters.
5. calculated the earthworks volume by supposing a DESIGN LEVEL equal to 103.5 meters. This design level is shown by the ruby red line in the picture.
6. estimated the earthworks volumes for the whole area. This quantity equals 150,000,000 cubic meters of earth.
7. calculated the cost of the project is $300,000,000.
8. used thousands of trucks and hundreds of diggers, shovels, and dozers to cut and fill the areas above and under the design level.
9. made the Topographic Contours maps as shown.

All of these activities were done by using my great program Surfer 8.
