It is an animated display of fresh water influx caused by flooding of the Burdekin River in Queensland Australia. The image is the result of a mathematical model to include the effects of wind, tides, and rate of discharge from the mouth of the river. The production of hundreds of maps and inset graphs was automated using the Surfer and Grapher scripting languages. The animated GIF files were created with Paint Shop Pro Image Robot software.
