Golden Colorado is nestled in the
foothills of the Rocky Mountains. It is about
15 miles West of downtown Denver, but separated from
the rest of the metro area by two mesas, North and
South Table Mountains. Our historic downtown
forms the heart of our community and is the location
of most of our large community events. It is
also popular with visitors, as it offers a wide
array of restaurants and shops in Victorian-era
buildings and breath-taking mountain scenery.
Clear Creek runs through Golden and
is popular with kayakers. Pedestrian/bike
paths run along both sides of the creek through
town.
The City itself has a population of
about 18,000, but the Golden post office serves a
much larger area, including unincorporated county
land to the North, South, and West. Golden is
home to Coors Brewery, the Colorado School of Mines,
and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.
It is also the county seat for Jefferson County.
