Trail Riders

The streetcars began running from Denver to Golden in the 1890s. Enterprising Golden businessmen offered a variety of entertainment for the incoming tourists, including burro rides up South Table Mountain, to the top of Castle Rock. The burro rides were followed by a funicular railway, built in 1913 and discontinued in the early 1920s.
